Golf lesson prices in BC
85 venues across 50 BC cities publish what a lesson costs. An hour one-on-one runs a median of $125, from $53 to $199. Every rate below was read off the venue’s own site on Sep 7, 2026 and links back to it.
What the numbers say
- ›An hour with a pro costs 3.7 times as much at one end of the province as the other. Christina Lake Golf Club in Christina Lake works out to $53 an hour; Nicklaus North Golf Course charges $199.
- ›16 of 73 venues teach for under $100 an hour. Lessons are not priced like green fees: what a venue charges to hit balls tells you very little about what it charges to be taught.
- ›Most venues do not sell an hour. The common blocks are 30, 45 and 60 minutes, so the price on the venue’s own page is usually lower than the hourly figure used to rank it here. Each row shows the lesson the rate was worked out from.
- ›42 venues publish a group or clinic rate and 32publish a junior rate, both well below the one-on-one price. Those are listed on each venue’s page but left out of this ranking, because a cheap junior clinic doesn’t make a venue cheap to learn at as an adult.
Cheapest hour with a pro
The 73 venues that publish a one-on-one rate and say how long the lesson is, cheapest per hour first. Group, junior and package rates are left out of the comparison: they are cheaper for reasons that have nothing to do with the venue being cheaper.
Priced, but not comparable by the hour
These 12 venues publish lesson prices without saying how long a lesson runs, or publish only group, junior or package rates. The figure shown is the lowest price on their card, which is not the same thing as the hourly rates above.
How we get these rates
Every figure here was read off the venue’s own website, not a third-party listing, and the venue name links to a profile page carrying the source URL and the date we checked it. The ranking uses one-on-one lessons only, normalised to an hour from whatever length the venue sells, because that is the only lesson every venue prices the same way. Where a venue lists several instructors at different rates we rank it on the cheapest, and where a venue publishes a price range rather than a figure we show the low end and say so. Prices are shown as published, so a pre-tax figure stays pre-tax. Venues we couldn’t find a published lesson price for are not on this page at all rather than shown with a guess.

Golf lesson prices, explained
How much do golf lessons cost in BC?
Across the 73 BC venues that publish a one-on-one rate with a lesson length, an hour of private instruction works out to a median of $125. The range runs from $53 to $199 an hour, and 16 venues come in under $100. Most venues sell lessons in 30, 45 or 60 minute blocks rather than by the hour, so the figure you pay is usually smaller than the hourly rate.
Where are the cheapest golf lessons in BC?
Christina Lake Golf Club in Christina Lake, at $53 an hour ($40 for 45 min). The most expensive one-on-one instruction in the province is Nicklaus North Golf Course in Whistler at $199 an hour, which is 3.7 times as much. Rates track the course more than the coaching: resort and private clubs sit at the top of the list, municipal courses and par-3s at the bottom.
Are group lessons cheaper than private lessons?
Yes, and by more than most golfers expect. 42 BC venues publish a group or clinic rate, and group pricing is routinely half the one-on-one rate per person or less because the instructor's hour is split several ways. 32 venues publish junior rates, which are cheaper again. Those prices are shown on each venue's own page but they are kept out of the hourly comparison here, because a cheaper group rate does not make a venue cheaper to learn at one-on-one.
What is a playing lesson and why does it cost more?
A playing lesson takes the instruction onto the course, usually for 9 or 18 holes, so it covers course management and shot selection rather than swing mechanics. 27 BC venues publish one. They look expensive next to a range lesson because most of them include the green fee and a power cart in the price, which at a resort course is a large part of the total before the pro has said anything.
Are these lesson prices current?
Every rate here was read off the venue's own website on Sep 7, 2026, and each venue links back to the page it came from so you can check it. Instruction pricing moves with the season and with which pro is on staff, so confirm before booking.
Do these prices include tax?
As published. Most BC venues quote instruction pre-tax, but a few publish tax-inclusive figures and say so. We show what the venue shows rather than adjusting it, which is worth keeping in mind when two venues look a few dollars apart.
