Most indoor golf keeps bar hours. Some of it doesn't.
The busiest simulator rooms in Metro Vancouver open around noon and close somewhere between 11pm and 2am. That's not laziness, it's the business model: they're staffed, they're licensed, and a good share of the revenue comes off the food and drink menu. Nobody is running a kitchen at 4am for one golfer.
A smaller group of venues solved the problem by taking the staff out of the equation. As of August 2026, seven indoor golf venues in BC list themselves as open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:
- Simply Golf and TopSpin Golf Lounge, both in Abbotsford
- Anytime Sim Golf in Kelowna
- J.Y.'s Indoor Golf in Port Coquitlam
- Clubhouse Indoor Golf in Richmond
- SWINGS Indoor Golf in Squamish
- Back Nine Indoor Golf in Vernon
An eighth is under construction in Pitt Meadows, which we'll come back to at the end.
How a room stays open with nobody in it
The details vary by venue, but the shape is the same. You book a slot online, the booking sends you a door code, and the code opens the building for your window. The bay you paid for switches on when your time starts and switches off when it ends. There's no counter, no one to check you in, and no one to reset the screen if you walk in mid-session.
The trade is straightforward: the venue spends on hardware, access control and booking software instead of on wages, and the room earns money at hours a staffed lounge can't touch. It also shapes what the place feels like. Rooms built this way tend to be practice-focused rather than social, because there's nobody there to pour you a beer.
A golf facility is not a golf bar
Both get filed under "indoor golf" and they're barely the same activity. A golf bar is an entertainment venue: table service, a crowd, a birthday group two bays over, and the golf is the thing you do between rounds of drinks. A golf facility is a practice room: quiet, no kitchen, and everyone in the building is working on something.
Neither is the better version. They answer different questions. If you want a Friday night out with people who don't golf, book the lounge. If you want an honest hour with a seven iron at 6am in February, book the facility. The one thing worth avoiding is showing up expecting one and getting the other, which is easy to do when both call themselves indoor golf on the sign.
Pricing follows the same split. Lounges are usually priced by the hour for the bay and count on you ordering something; practice-first rooms lean on memberships and repeat visits. Our full list of indoor simulators in BC covers both.
What to check before you book an overnight slot
- Whether those 24-hour listings are booking hours or staffed hours. Plenty of venues take bookings around the clock but only have someone in for part of the day, and lessons, fittings and club rentals usually only happen when that person is there.
- How you actually get in. Door code, app, fob. Find out before you're standing outside at 11pm.
- Whether clubs are provided. Unstaffed rooms more often assume you bring your own set.
- What happens if the tech quits at 2am. Ask who you call and whether a failed session gets credited back.
Pitt Meadows is getting its first indoor room
Club Par is building five TrackMan studios at Unit 314, 19265 Airport Way, a mix of private and semi-private plus an oversized studio for lessons and group bookings. Members book online and enter with a code, and the studio activates for the booked slot, which is what lets it run outside normal business hours. There's no lounge or restaurant attached; the focus is practice, lessons, league play and TrackMan tournaments on courses like St Andrews and Pebble Beach.
It matters locally because Pitt Meadows' other practice options are outdoor and seasonal. Club Par would be the first place in the city to hit balls through the winter, and the first indoor golf in a stretch of the north Fraser where the nearest sims are in Port Coquitlam or Langley. Opening is targeted for fall 2026 with a waitlist running in the meantime. The Club Par listing has the current details.
For everywhere else, the indoor simulator directory lists every sim room in the province with live open and closed status, and ranges open late covers the outdoor side for anyone who'd still rather hit into the dark.
